Candy Crush, Farmville, Plants vs Zombies, Clash of Clans and Farm Heroes Saga. I think we probably all played at least one video game in our lives, and more likely a free game. I was addicted to the free Facebook game Farmville, playing it during classes at college. What is it that makes us love these simple free games, that usually seem to make no sense at all, but yet get us totally hooked?

It is probably safe to say that the most popular free mobile game is Candy Crush. Your goal: combining the same candy to get them crushed and reach the next level. Though Farmville on Facebook was extremely popular and had millions of faithful ‘farmers’ who would water their plants and feed their cows daily, Candy Crush soon became favorite. Apparently harvesting pixel fruit trees and feeding cartoon styled chickens wasn’t as exciting as crushing candy as quickly as possible.

Drugs and games

According to Swrve 0.15 percent of mobile gamers provide for 50 percent of the total income! We’re talking about free games here, but with in-game items for sale. For example, in Candy Crush you’ll often find yourself staring at your iPhone screen waiting for a new level to unlock. Game designers know this exactly what gets a gamer to take his credit card out. You were in the middle of the game, doing so well – as the game will often suggest you are, boosting your self confidence – but then you have to wait for the next level. A craving fills your heart, and you can bear it no longer: you end up paying for it.

Doesn’t this sound like a drug addict who cannot wait anymore and has to get his drugs? I don’t think it’s just coincidence that the damage done to the brain of a game addict and drug addict is very similar. Let’s think about it: would God ever want us to be slaves of drugs and theirfor slaves of sin and Satan?

Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance. Isaiah 55:2 NKJV For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalms 107:9 NKJV

“You did awesome!”

Then there is the dopamine hit. Did you ever notice how often in the game you are told you are doing absolutely awesome, wonderful, excellent and amazing? It is not that game designers are such good people and felt like complementing each gamer to make them feel good about themselves. They purposefully put this in there because they know that the brain reacts to such encouraging words.

When the game tells us we are doing well, when we level up or defeat another player, the brain’s reward system is flooded with dopamine: we feel happy. But over time our brain can’t produce as much domapine anymore. We don’t feel as satisfied, and, longing for that happiness, we reach for our phones again, hoping Candy Crush can fill our hearts with that satisfaction. We get addicted, plus we buy in-game items to level up hoping we will be satisfied again. Because of the low dopamine levels when not playing, depression, restlessness, difficulty focussing, mood swings and nausea can be the result.

Self-control gone missing

Next there’s ego depletion with which your willpower is reduced. You are more likely to fail at self-regulation, make indulgent choices, do what the majority does or not make any decision at all. Ron Faber, who co-authored a study on impulse purchases by Univesity of Minnesota, says in Getting Gamers: The Psychology of Video Games and Their Impact on the People (Jamie Madigan, PhD): “If playing a game requires concentration, you are using up attentional and cognitive resources. If it is exciting or scary, you may be using up emotional resources. In each case, this will make subsequent self-control more difficult.”

Self-control, isn’t that what God wants for us?

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. II Peter 1:5-9 NKJV

And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. Romans 6:18-19 NKJV

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Galatians 5:13 KJV

Not able to choose to worship God

Besides the addiction and the loss of self control, gaming in itself is also very damaging for the brain. Victoria Dunckley, M.D. writes in Psychology Today that multiple studies show that gaming addiction causes shrinkage or loss of tissue volume in gray matter areas (where ‘processing’ occurs). Areas affected include the frontal lobe, the part of our brain we use, among other things, to choose to worship God.

Besides damaging the frontal lobe, each time you play a video game, the frontal lobe is suppressed, not making you capable to willfully choose God in that moment. Your seat of reasoning is not functioning properly. Now that should shock every sincere follower of Christ.

“Come now, and let us reason together,” Saith the Lord (…)
Isaiah 1:18 KJV

Free games might be free to download, but there is a high price we have to pay: our precious relationship with God and eternal life with Him. Christ wants to change and mold us and make us ready, but if we spend all our time playing video games, He cannot make us ready for His coming. Even though we play it only for a minute, what if that one minute had to be spent on Christ and was neccessary to hear Him say: well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of my lord (Matthew 25:23). Aren’t those words worth more than every dollar spent on a game in which you crush candy while you can’t reason? It only leaves us feel so dissatisfied and empty. Let us drink from the fountain of life, Christ Himself, Who will never leave us thirsty.

Like the woman at the well I was seeking, for things that did not satisfy. But then I heard my Savior speaking, draw from My well, that never shall run dry. Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up Lord. Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more. Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole. Hymn 493 Fill My Cup Lord

A more in-depth article on the effects of games on the brain is coming soon in a blog series called Media on the Brain. Be looking out for it, this will surely be mindblowing.

While same-sex marriage and other gay rights issues are getting themselves entrenched in American law and jurisprudence, transgenders are now the focus of the politically-correct left in the USA, as anyone willing to be honest would admit.

Now a second U.S. state has decided that churches, too, are bound by the agenda. The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) released a “Gender Identity Guidance” that imposes its demands on society, including churches.

“The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination enforces [state law on discrimination]. The MCAD developed this guidance to educate the public about discrimination based on gender identity, to describe what evidence may be submitted to support a claim of gender identity discrimination, to inform individuals of their rights, and to assist employers, providers of housing, mortgage services, and owners, managers and agents of places of public accommodation in understanding their obligations.”

The conflict with churches arises under the instructions for “places of public accommodation.” “Under [the law] places of public accommodation may not discriminate against, or restrict a person from services because of that person’s gender identity. For example, a hotel or motel may not refuse to book a room for a person because of the person’s gender identity,” the guidance says. “Even a church could be seen as a place of public accommodation if it holds a secular event, such as a spaghetti supper, that is open to the general public.”

But churches often have public events to attract new members. The Massachusetts law seems to take aim at these events by following the Obama unofficial designation that religious freedom only applies to worship.

Even the use of pronouns referring to a transgender’s biological sex is prohibited by the guidance. One conservative blogger said, “Tolerating such remarks is generally seen as allowing a ‘hostile environment,’ and therefore ‘harassment.’ Indeed, the statement… specifically encourages people to ‘prohibit derogatory comments or jokes about transgender persons from employees, clients, vendors and any others, and promptly investigate and discipline persons who engage in discriminatory conduct’.”

Churches, it seems, could be held liable to punishment if they do not suppress their own congregant’s or worker’s expression that might be offensive to transgenders. Any ‘public accommodation’ can be “ordered not to say anything that might make a homosexual or a transgender feel ‘unwelcome,’ such as even reading from the Bible a condemnation of such behavior.”

“Churches should be free to communicate their religious beliefs and operate their houses of worship according to their faith without fearing government punishment,” said Christiana Holcomb, legal counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom. “It’s not good enough for government officials to say we should simply trust them to tell us what is religious and what isn’t. The law must be clear, and at present, the only thing that’s clear is that the law gives too much power to government bureaucrats who don’t even seem to understand the most basic constitutional principles.”

When the state identifies a church or some or all of its activities as a “public” accommodation, narrows the definition of a “bona fide religious purpose,” and tells a church what it can say and what it cannot say, it has crossed the constitutional line described in the first amendment.

In Iowa state, a similar commission also claims that state law demands that people be given access to church restrooms and locker rooms according to “gender identity.”

Religious freedom is more clearly than ever under attack by those pushing transgender rights. It is chipping away at the U.S. Constitution’s first amendment in its bill of rights. Gradually, but rapidly, every principle is being eroded until it will be completely repudiated. See Testimonies for the Church, Vol. 5, page 451.

Pope Francis pleads with Christians from all denominations to help heal a wound of discord through the means of unity. Could this be the wound that is healed in Revelation 13? We sure could use more men like Pastor Batchelor. Why aren’t our preachers speaking on “End Time Events”? (only a few are).

WARNING: Satan is soon to manifest signs and wonders through the fallen churches and false religions. And all who do not have a love for the TRUTH will be deceived by the ‘STRONG DELUSION’ that is to come (2 Thess. 2:9-12). Are you ready? Will you be sealed? Lord’s Day Alliance USA says: Sunday is a ‘MARK’ of Christian Unity (April 2015)

→ Major End Time Deception ←

“By definition, each and every Sunday is a call to Christian unity since it is on this day that we are called to communion with the Lord, by the Lord. In spite of all of the challenges that have tugged at the threads of Christian unity, the Lord’s Day remains the one, unassailable marker of Christian unity since it is on this day that all of us, despite our many differences, gather together as believers in Christ … There were always differences about days and dates in the Christian world … The Lord’s Day, however, as a time of communal, Christian gathering has never been in question.”

WARNING: The Vatican is going to use Sunday to unite the world under the Roman Church. And when the Sunday rest is enforced by law, it will be the mark of the beast.

This article is so full of lies and deceit! It says ‘all Christians’ have celebrated Sunday worship throughout history. This is a lie and ignores true 7th day sabbath keepers throughout history. The article says that Sunday is the ‘eighth day, set apart from all others’. Another lie and deception of Rome, that has no Biblical foundation. The 7th day (our Saturday) is the only day that has been ‘set apart’ by God for holy use. The article also states that Sunday as a communal worship day has never been questioned. Again, this ignores true sabbath keepers, who have been faithfully proclaiming the sabbath truth throughout history.

What is the Vatican’s version of ‘Religious Liberty’?“In respecting religious liberty and the common good of all, Christians should seek recognition of Sundays and the Church’s holy days as legal holidays.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2188)

This so called ‘MARK’ of Christian unity, and the Vatican’s ‘religious liberty’, once it is enforced by law soon, will be the ‘MARK’ of the beast! Please see the TRUTH about the sabbath day.

Important Information: Many do not know about the connection between Roman Catholicism and Islam. Why do they both venerate Mary over Jesus? Why are there many places in the world where Catholics and Muslims share devotion of Mary? (source). Why are MILLIONS of Muslims seeing ‘apparitions’ of Mary? (source). Why does the Catholic Catechism state that Muslims worship the same God as Catholics? (see Catechism number 841). And yet according to ‘Papal infallibility’, TRUE Bible believing Christians OUTSIDE of the Roman Catholic Church are going to burn in hell?? Uniting with apostasy in a fractured and troubled world, is still apostasy! COME OUT MY PEOPLE

It is because the Roman Catholic Church CREATED the religion of Islam. SEE THIS VIDEO.

New Catholic and Lutheran EpochSlider Image 1

The Catholic Church and the Lutheran World Federation have reached an epoch-making turning-point, said Rev. Martin Junge, General Secretary of The Lutheran World Federation. The relationship between Lutherans and Catholics is being transformed “from conflict to communion,” he said during a panel to the Lutheran Church in Rome.

With Junge on the panel were Kurt Cardinal Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (PCPCU), Bishop Karl-Hinrich Manzke, the Catholic representative of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany, and Bishop Gerhard Feige, the chairperson of the Ecumenism Commission of the German Episcopal Conference

The panel announced plans for a common liturgical guide in connection with the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. The guide will follow on from the dialogue document From Conflict to Communion published jointly in 2013.

The focus of celebrations in 2017 is “Not church division, nor the 500th anniversary of a church and certainly not any heroic actions,” but rather celebrate a “festival of Christ.” The Catholic Church is not demanding repentance of the Lutherans, nor are the Lutherans demanding repentance of the Catholics.

Junge said, “our churches have the same mission: to bear clear witness in word and deed.” Unfortunately, by making the celebration a generic celebration of Christ, the clear witness is lacking.

When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result. Two masked gunmen forced their way into the offices of a French satirical newspaper in Paris on January 7, 2015, and Hating the Enemymurdered 12 people. The act was supposedly in retaliation for the paper mocking Muhammad, the founder of Islam. Another gunman shot and killed four hostages at a supermarket in southeast Paris, and still another suspect murdered a police officer in southwest Paris. All the gunmen have connections with jihadist groups.

The terror alert has been issued in all of France (threat level 3, “High chance of threat”) and in north central France, a threat level 4 (the highest level, “Definite threat”). Authorities have deployed 10,000 soldiers to strengthen security in the wake of last week’s attacks. Prime Minister Manuel Valls, says, “The threat is still present.”

The Bible condemns hatred and violence. Revenge and retaliation have no place in the Christian heart. Paul states, “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice” (Ephesians 4:32).

Jesus presses us with an even stronger statement regarding our enemies. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you” (Matthew 5:43, 44).

As we approach the coming of Jesus, the Bible explains, “And there will be signs … and on earth distress of nations, with perplexity … men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth” (Luke 21:25, 26).

Paul’s list of those who turn from God in the last days almost reads like the daily news. He speaks of people “filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful” (Romans 1:29–31).

Our hearts grieve these innocent victims of the violence. Hatred has never resolved crises. Revenge only perpetuates the cycle of brutality and bloodshed. As our earth spins closer to the final hours before the enemy of our planet, Satan, is forever stopped, we will see an increase of cruelty and hostility.

Let us pray and seek to bring healing to our broken world. Let us never pick up the vengeful weapons of the evil one, but reach out with a love that transforms.
