THERE ARE NO FRIENDLY GHOSTS. THEY ARE DEMONS

A FAMILIAR SPIRIT is a demon who is familiar with a dead person’s family and pretends to be the dead person for the purpose of deceiving them or others. God absolutely FORBIDS any contact with familiar spirits, demons or the dead.

The two words, “familiar spirit,” are translated into the English from the single Hebrew word obe אֹוב.

“Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:31

“And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.” Leviticus 20:6

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” Deut 18:10-12

1 Chron. 10:13, “So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it.”

2 Chron. 33:6, “And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.”

And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?” Isa 8:19

Satan is a sly deceiver. The lie that is conveyed with the belief in ghosts is the same lie he told Eve in the Garden, “there is no death.” But God says, “The soul that sins will die.” and “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” Heb 9:27
