Heavenly Message or Deadly Deception?

An Amazing Fact: This year, Hollywood is releasing a blockbuster lineup of new religious films designed to attract Christian viewers. Sadly, ticket sales—and not biblical truth—is the motivating factor. For instance, the producers of “Noah” took huge artistic liberties and strayed widely from the biblical story. In “Son of God”, a movie about Jesus, Satan’s temptation in the wilderness was removed for political reasons. And the June remake of “Left Behind” will again give attention to the unbiblical doctrine of the secret rapture. But now an even more powerful deception is just days away …

If Satan or one of his demons appeared to you as an angel from heaven, would you be able to unmask the imposter? Or would its “heavenly” disguise and message trick you?

I’m confident you would not be deceived. As a faithful friend of Amazing Facts, you know the importance of testing everything—including every spirit—by the Bible to see whether or not it is true (1 John 4:1).

But what about your family, friends, and co-workers? Are they as well-equipped to detect Satan’s clever lies? Unfortunately, many Christians today are unprepared to recognize Satan’s deceptions if they appear disguised as messages from heaven.

Heaven is for Real_Book

On April 16, Heaven Is for Real will be released, just in time for the Easter holiday. Lurking inside this feel-good message about heaven and eternal life is a cleverly disguised lie that many Christians are simply unprepared to detect.

The movie is based on the bestselling book by the same name. It is the story of Colton Burpo, the son of a Nebraska pastor, who had emergency surgery for a burst appendix.

According to the book, while four-year-old Colton was on the operating table, he had a near-death experience, went to heaven, and met his older sister who had died in a miscarriage and his great-grandfather who died 30 years prior. After surgery, Colton revealed to his stunned parents “impossible-to-know” details supposedly learned from these two dead family members, as well as other particulars regarding heavenly things.

Of course, as astounding as Colton’s revelations seem, they directly contradict God’s Word.

The Bible clearly states that the “dead know nothing … nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6). The Bible also teaches that immortality comes not at death, but at the resurrection at the end of time (1 Corinthians 15:52)

Nevertheless, most Christians today have been taught to believe that the soul is immortal and that a person goes immediately to heaven or hell when they die. What these unsuspecting people don’t realize is that this belief is setting them up to fall for Satan’s next powerful delusion. That’s what makes the movie Heaven Is for Real so dangerous … it demands our urgent response!

After all, if someone can visit heaven and bring back a report of who made it there and more unknown insights learned from departed souls, then there’s no need to study our Bibles.

A Window for Witnessing

Satan’s first lie to Eve was, “You will not surely die” (Genesis 3:4). Today this belief is so prevalent even among Christians that millions enthusiastically accept Colton’s out-of-body experience as a message from God. They hail the intimate details of his communication with the dead as sufficient proof.

The prophet Isaiah, however, gives a very strong warning against this practice: “Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:19, 20).

King Saul deceived by witchBut many people today risk discovering too late that the spirit impersonating their departed loved ones in every intimate detail is none other than a demon intent on their destruction.

That’s why there’s not a moment to lose. You and I need to get the word out quickly. Will you partner with Amazing Facts to strip away the mask of Satan’s deception and save millions from believing a lie? Your earnest prayers and financial support will make a huge impact!

Unfortunately for many, Hollywood is shaping their theology—not the Bible. They don’t realize they have fallen for spiritualism and are following “deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons” (1 Timothy 4:1).  But you and I can change that.
