EUROPEAN DAY FOR A WORK-FREE SUNDAY ON 3 MARCH 2013:

The European Sunday Alliance reminds all members and supporters to also take action this year on Sunday, 3 March 2013, as the EUROPEAN DAY FOR A WORK-FREE SUNDAY!

In these difficult times of economic insecurity too many workers and employers are coming under pressure and our society overlooks the importance of free time and the participation of citizens in society. With regard to the current retrenchment of social policies, it is important to make our voice for decent work rhythms heard!

Synchronization of working time: The current practises and legislation in EU- and Member States need to be improved. Synchronization of working time which includes the work-free Sunday is crucial. Only if this happens can health, safety and dignity of all citizens can be promoted. Only in this way will all citizens be able to reconcile their personal, family and professional life. Only by this is social cohesion guaranteed as it enables people to gather, employers and employees alike.

European Year of Citizens 2013: Whether it is for cultural enrichment or spiritual wellbeing or whether people attend church services, sports clubs, family events or civil society organizations: Citizenship deserves time! The work-free Sunday as well as synchronised working time are a clear and visible demonstration that people and our societies are not dependent solely on work and economy.

More than ever, in 2013, our Alliance calls on members, supporters and all citizens to make our common demand visible on Sunday on 3rd of March 2013!

What can YOU do ?

There are already Sunday Alliances in some EU Member States, which have had this tradition for a number of years. Whatever actions or political discussions you wish to organise will be up to each organisation to decide. The visibility of this special Sunday will not depend only on one ‘big event’ but also on innovative ideas and projects reflecting the local and regional culture and European traditions. This idea of a European Day on a work-free Sunday will grow from one year to the next.

A work free Sunday is a substitute for God’s work free Sabbath as described in the Ten Commandments. The European Sunday Alliance and its chapters are applying to Sunday all the benefits that God intended to be gained from the observance of the seventh day Sabbath.

While they are not promoting legal worship on Sundays at the moment, the Bible tells us in Revelation 13:8 that worship will eventually become the main point. “All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him.” Promoting laws to guarantee a work free Sunday is a foundation to the later stages of Sunday worship laws.

“The law of God, through the agency of Satan, is to be made void… The contest will be decided over the Sabbath question, which will agitate the whole world.” Evangelism, p. 236

So let us think for a minute about what we have learned about what is going on regarding Sunday rest. There is obviously a well-coordinated effort promoted by the Roman Catholic Church through the trade unions, many of her own church organizations, including the European Jesuit Office, through her ecumenical partners such as the various protestant churches, civic organizations and even the pope himself. They are determined to get a work free Sunday enforced in European law. By doing this, the Catholic Church will set itself up as the religious and cultural center of Europe, and therefore become the defacto religious leader of the resurrected Holy Roman Empire.

Once she is legally recognized in this way, she will work to go further with Sunday laws, eventually requiring all the citizens of Europe to worship in her way, just as prophecy has said.

When Jesus described the fall of Jerusalem, He was also referring to the end of time. Notice Luke 21:20 “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.” Could it be that with all the Sunday law agitation going on, the Roman armies are now surrounding God’s church? After all, Sunday legislation is a Roman thing.

Friends, we are nearing the final battle for truth and righteousness against the traditions and laws of men. We are entering the endgame. Don’t think that you have time to lose in your quest for righteousness. Don’t think you can waste another minute in preparing your life for the final battle. Jesus will stand by your side, but you cannot prepare in just a day. You have to become purposeful in your devotional life. You have to have determination to possess the presence of the Lord Jesus in your heart and mind. You cannot dabble with sin and expect to be mature enough to handle the pressure. God is calling you today. These signs of the times are actually His voice pleading with you and with me to repent and return to Him with all our hearts. Are you ready to do that today? Are you ready to place yourself completely in the hands of your heavenly Father and live by His law?
