U.S. Divorce Rate Highest in the Worldlink Premiere · January 30, 2013

The United States has the highest divorce rate on the planet with nearly five divorces per 1000 people. While that doesn’t sound like a lot, that 1000 people includes singles who never married, people who cohabitate and children.

The marriage rate in the U.S. is nearly 10 per 1000 population. So that means that approximately half of the people who marry will get divorced in the United States.

Divorce was permitted because of sin (particularly the sin of adultery). Broken families undermine the stability of society.

Speaking of the last days, the apostle Peter said, “Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children…” 2 Peter 2:14.

But, if couples will both enter into God’s plan for marriage, and both of you have agreed that it was no longer just “me” but it had become “we”. Then, we don’t have to worry about being too protective of  ourselves.  As an individual, we tend to protect our feelings too much which resulted to strife and rebellion.    Big problems will someday occur if couples do not understand the importance of exchange and mutual sharing of EVERYTHING.   There are times that financial disagreements happens because one will say, “This is my salary” and, “that is your debt.”  I have heard of a few couple who separated because the guy got into a huge amount of debt because he gambles.  There was one guy who left  his wife and took the kids because he learned that the wife is being haunted by people she owed money with.   It is easy to free ourselves from marriage however, do we know the impact it will ring to ourselves and our family if we decide to let go?
