Business U.K. Sec of the Treasury: We’re Broke

You know things are bad when your own Secretary of the Treasury, or the “Chancellor” as he’s referred to in the U.K., says you’re flat-out broke.

Chancellor George Osborne warns that there is very little a coalition can do to help resuscitate the U.K.’s financial health and says the best thing to do is “encourage businesses to flourish and hire more workers,” according to the Telegraph.

“The British Government has run out of money because all the money was spent in the good years,” the Chancellor said. “The money and the investment and the jobs need to come from the private sector.”

As the Telegraph’s Rowena Mason points out, Osborne sounds an awful lot like Liam Byrne, the former chief secretary to the Treasury, who joked that Labour had left Britain broke when he left the Government in 2010.

He left David Laws, his successor, a note saying: “Dear Chief Secretary, I’m afraid to tell you there’s no money left”.

Osborne has come under severe pressure by members of British Parliament to figure out how to boost economic growth, despite the fact that his country is slipping into recession.

One option, championed by The Institute of Fiscal Studies, is for him to enact emergency tax cuts in the Budget so as to reduce the risk of a prolonged economic downturn.

However, Osborne has vowed to balance the books by refusing to borrow money.

“Any tax cut would have to be paid for,” Osborne told Sky News. “In other words there would have to be a tax rise somewhere else or a spending reduction. In other words what we are not going to do in this Budget is borrow more money to either increase spending or cut taxes.”

These sentiments have been echoed by Liberal Democrat Jeremy Browne, the foreign minister, who “warned that Britain faced ‘accelerated decline’ without measures to tackle its debt and increase competitiveness,” according to the Telegraph.

“This situation has been becoming more acute for years,” Browne adds. “It is now staring us in the face. So we need to take action.”

Browne also says that for government departments to avoid “collapsing under the weight of their own debt,” they need to get serious about reforming pensions, welfare and defense.

“Just because the spending was sometimes on worthy causes does not in itself mean it was affordable,” he says. “Doing nothing when your prospects are at risk of declining is not the safe option. More of the same may be superficially more popular in the short-term but that does not make it right.”

Of course, there is opposition to the “pro-business” growth model.

Chris Leslie MP, the shadow Treasury minister, said it was “wrong of the Chancellor to argue that Britain was broke and to rely on business alone to create economic growth,” according to the Telegraph.

“George Osborne can’t complacently wash his hands and claim the lack of jobs and growth in the economy is nothing to do with him,” he said. “He needs to realize that government has a vital role to play in creating an environment where the private sector can grow and create jobs [emphasis added].”

But considering the fact that the U.K. is broke and the IMF is in shambles, where — other than business — is Osborne supposed to turn to for economic growth? That is to say, how, exactly, does Leslie plan on growing the private sector and creating jobs if not by allowing businesses to flourish?

Kirk Camron is absolutely right about America and how she has lost her values and we need to do something. But saints this is not what the bible says because she will speak like a Dragon Rev 13:11. “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” Revelation 13:11. A “beast” in prophecy represents a “kingdom.” Daniel 7:23

The lamb-like horns indicate youth, gentleness, and represent civil and religious freedom. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution reflect these noble views. Because of these very principles, our nation became great. The oppressed and persecuted from all lands have looked to the U.S. with hope.” (3)

But the beast with the lamb-like horns “spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed; And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.” Revelation 13:12, 13

The lamb-like horns and then the dragon voice present a change of personality. A real change! The speaking of this country as a “dragon” denotes the use of force. This principle, as we shall see, was used by the Leopard-like beast (the first beast) of Revelation 13, which enforced religious observances by law! Such action by the U.S. government would be directly contrary to its grand principles of religious freedom. The Constitution provides that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

“Speak as a dragon” – our nation? Do you hear it stirring? Have you noticed attitudes becoming more intolerant and angry lately? Angry at crime? Angry at political, religious and social corruption?

In view of the horrifying trends of the time, it’s understandable why the nation is to “speak” that way. In one year, Americans spent $4 billion of pornography. Divorce affects tens of millions of homes, wrecking lives – and breaking hearts.

Mass murders, neglect of the aged, abuse of women and even of babies, sicken the heart. Men possessed, are taking the lives of men, women, and little children.

Millions of Americans, hooked on marijuana, “crack”, heroin, and other chemicals, peer at the world through differing degrees of “goony eyes”, and further appall society with their resultant behavior and crimes.

A recent report to the Federal Communication Commission states “Between the ages of 5 and 14 the average American child witnesses the violent destruction of thirteen thousand human beings on television” (4) A U.S. Senate subcommittee revealed that in one decade violence witnessed on T.V. skyrocketed and delinquency in real life grew nearly 200%! (5)

Video movies too horrible to mention fill the living rooms and minds of young and old.

Prostitutes, homosexuals, and drug addicts, share AIDS and ARC (AIDS Related Complex) with the innocent. The poor sufferers give groans of despair as they perish in ever greater numbers. A group of them, LIFE Magazine reported, lying on the floor in a circle, and summoning some of their last remaining strength – laughed in sequence. (6)

In the words of one commentator, “Surely America stumbles headlong toward the final precipice. Tripped on the downward road of immorality, it plunges with ever-increasing momentum toward the point of no return.” (7)

Crime doubles every ten years.

What about the economy?

The country is broke. It has gotten so far in debt that many wonder what will happen next. Many retired couples have either lost their food stamps and medic cards, or have had to divorce and live our of wedlock to keep them.

Political and religious corruption have caused even the constitution to come under attack! People are angry. The nation is angry. The shifting of values and anger of the times (in speedy fulfillment of prophecy) are echoed in words blurted out by a Jesuit priest, “I just don’t understand the reverence which everybody here seems to pay to the ‘Americun

Constitushun.’ I want to hear some American get up and shout, Give us

justice. Give us decency. And to . . . with the American Constitution.”

Is it any wonder that our nation will “speak as a dragon?” Little wonder that ministers across that land, in an effort to abort national doom, move millions to political action. The feeling is that something must be done. Leaders of the “electronic church” launched a campaign to arouse 50 million Christians! There’s a tremendous drive on to unite forces for the common good.

Pat Robertson, the preacher who founded the 700 Club, and who himself aspired to the very top of the political ladder, said, “Unless Christians desire a nation and a world reordered to the humanistic/hedonistic model, it is absolutely vital that we take control of the U.S. government away from the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations.” He speaks of turning to God “to galvanize Christians to political action” (8)

U.S. News & World Report declared, “A political holy war without precedent is in full swing in this country.” (9)

The feeling is being spread that only if our nation comes back to God can we improve our sorry state of affairs. Leaders are saying that this can be accomplished if Christians unite. “Robert Grant, leader of Christian Voice urged: “If Christians unite, we can do anything. We can pass any law or any amendment. And that’s exactly what we intend to do.” On nation-wide T.V. he declared: “We can do anything, we can amend the Constitution. We can elect a president. We can change or make any law in the land. And it behooves us to do it. If we have to live under law, as well we should, we should live under moral and Godly law.” (10) This is not the opinion of just one man.

In reply the executive director, H. Edward Rowe, wrote, ‘Legislation and proclamations by Presidents to urge it – yes!”

The dynamics make us wonder little that nation-wide papers and media

messages plea to the masses that “It is the responsibility of government to decree the establishment of the national observance of Sunday.” And that, “There will be no relief from mounting economic disaster until a national Sunday law is strictly enforced.”!

It’s not surprising that in a hearing of the South Carolina legislature, demands by State Representative Anderson himself for a Sunday law to improve the state of society brought uproarious applause. Who can wonder that the United States President has revealed his willingness to do what no other U.S. president has been able to do – support legislation which would help collapse the separation of church and state!”

Rick Santorum said Sunday he doesn’t believe the separation of church and state is “absolute” and reiterated past comments that he almost “threw up” after reading a speech on the subject by former President John F. Kennedy.

“The first substantive line says ‘I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute.‘ I don’t believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute,” Santorum said on ABC‘s ’This Week.“ ”The idea that the church can have no influence or no involvement in the operation of the state is absolutely antithetical to the objectives and vision of our country.”

Santorum, a Catholic, has been very open about the role of religion in his life and in his political beliefs.

“The First Amendment says the free exercise of religion and that means bringing everybody, people of faith and non-faith into the public square,” he said. “Kennedy for the first time articulated the vision saying, ‘No, faith is not allowed in the public square, I will keep it separate.’ Go on and read the speech, ‘I will have nothing to do with faith. I won’t consult with people of faith.’ It was an absolutist doctrine that was foreign at the time of 1960.”

Pressed further by host George Stephanopoulos that he almost “threw up” over the speech, Santorum didn’t back down.

“Absolutely, to say that people of faith have no role in the public square? You bet that makes you throw up,” Santorum said. “What kind of country do we live in that says only people of non-faith can come in the public square and make their case? That makes me throw up and that should make every American.

Referring to the recent controversy over President Barack Obama’s mandate that all insurers must cover the cost of contraception services, Santorum continued: “You are seeing from a president someone who is now trying to tell people of faith that you will do what the government says, we are going to impose our values on you. Not that you can’t come into the public square and argue against it, but now we’re going to turn around and say we’re going to impose our values from the government on people of faith which, of course, is the next logical step when people of faith — at least according to John Kennedy — have no role in the public square.”

Kennedy’s speech, delivered on the campaign trail in 1960, came at a time when Kennedy was facing voters wary of his Catholicism. Despite Santorum’s repeated characterization, the phrase “public square” does not appear, and much of the speech is devoted to Kennedy’s assurances that his religion would not be a factor in his leadership — namely, “request[ing] or accept[ing] instructions on public policy from the Pope.” watch video http://abcnews.go.com/ThisWeek/

By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. Will the year 2012 mark TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it)? Some believe so. On December 21, 2012, the winter solstice, the Maya calendar will end a major cycle and mark a new era of civilization. What that means is anybody’s guess. Will it launch a new period of nonviolence or one of the worst disasters ever to face humanity?

“There are groups who claim that an uncharted, unseen planet called Nibiru will strike Earth or nearly hit it; that the Earth’s polarity will reverse (so that north is south and south is north), wreaking widespread havoc; or that solar storms will destroy civilization by disrupting power grids.

“Although scientists and many Maya scholars insist that there is nothing to most of the predictions, the idea of 2012 as a watershed year ‘has gotten great traction,’ said John Hall, a sociologist at UC Davis who specializes in apocalyptic movements. Hall said he expects the frenzy will only grow over the next 12 months.” [1]

How should Christians relate to all this? Does the Bible have anything to guide us on when the end of the world will occur? Absolutely. The best place to find truth is not on survivalist websites or in ancient calendars … but the Bible. God controls the Universe and all that is in it (2 Chronicles 20:26). Asteroids and kingdoms do not rise and fall without the Lord’s hand.

Regarding the date of Christ’s return, the Bible says:

“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door” (Matthew 24:32, 33 NKJV).

We do not know the exact year or day of Jesus’ return and the end of the world, but we can know that it is “near” by looking at signs.

What are some of the signs that the end is near? Matthew 24 provides one of the best list of signs described in the Bible: Wars and rumors of wars (v. 6), famines and earthquakes in various places (v. 7), false messiahs and false prophets (v. 24), signs in the heavens (v. 29), like the days of Noah (v. 38), etc. What is clear in these passages is this caveat, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (v. 36).

The message stressed in many of these biblical passages on the end of time is not so much knowing the exact day or year that Christ will return. What is most important is that we are ready for Jesus to come back to this Earth. Matthew 25 tells stories of people waiting for the return of Christ and how they will live. This is to be our focus as Christians, not discovering some secret message in a Maya calendar.

  • The Lorax, first published in 1971, is a classic. It’s one of Dr. Seuss‘ more philosophical children’s stories like “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!“ with an underlying meaning of more than just ”hop on pop.”

The Lorax, which is gearing up for a March 2 feature film release, is the tale of a mythical creature (the Lorax) who “speaks for the trees” that are being targeted and chopped down by the “Once-ler“ to be made in to ”Thneeds.” a sweater-like garment that “everyone needs.”

With this pro-environmental message to protect the “Truffla trees,” the film is even being promoted on commercials for the 2013 Mazda CX-5, a crossover SUV that is more fuel efficient and boasts “SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY.”

As with the Muppets recently coming under fire for spreading a “communist” and “anti-capitalistic” message to children, so The Lorax and another film with a social justice theme, “The Secret World of Arrietty,” are receiving similar criticism for child brainwashing. “The Secret World of Arrietty,” which is in theaters now, describes the story of miniature people who are “borrowers,“ a culture that borrows items from their larger human counterparts that they ”won’t miss.”

Lou Dobbs for Fox Business recently discussed these two films saying they were “indoctrinating our children.”  Watch that clip with discussion between Dobbs and radio hosts Dom Giordano, Matt Patrick and Steve Cochran:

 

Dobbs believes that targeting children with messages like those in these movies is pushing a liberal agenda. Cochran explains that even while he thinks that there is a liberal-leaning message in these movies, he‘s not concerned because if parents don’t want that message impressed upon their children, then they won’t take them to the show. Still, Patrick says that films like this are creating “occu-toddlers”.

Sadly ladies and gentlemen this wonderful document(Constitution) will be taken from us and we will lose our freedom of conscience. Let me tell why in Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. Horns represent kings and kingdoms, or governments (Daniel 7:24; 8:21). In this case, they represent America’s two governing principles: civil and religious liberty. These two governing principles have also been labeled “republicanism” (a government without a king) and “Protestantism” (a church without a pope). Other nations since ancient times had taxed people to support a state religion. Most had also oppressed religious dissidents. But America established something entirely new: Freedom to worship as you wish without government interference or control–and with government protection. Absence of crowns signifies a republican form of government, rather than a monarchy. Lamb-like horns denote an innocent, young, nonoppressive, peace-loving, and spiritual nation. Jesus is referred to as a lamb 28 times in Revelation. So this new government was trying to uphold His principles. No other power on earth could possibly fit the characteristics and time slot of the lamb-horned beast, except America. The dragon is Satan, who works through various governments of the earth to establish his evil kingdom and crush God’s church by persecuting and destroying His people. Satan’s aim always has been to usurp God’s power and throne and to force people to worship and obey him. ( So “speaking as a dragon” means that the United States (under the influence of Satan) will, in the end time, force people to worship contrary to conscience or be punished. So who is this power who wants to crush our Constitution well it is the character and aims of the Papacy(read Rev 13:1-10). “But Romanism as a system is no more in harmony with gospel of Christ now than at any former period in her history. The Protestant churches are in great darkness, or they would discern the signs of the times. the Roman Church is far reaching in her plans and modes of operation. She is employing every device to extend her influence and increase her power in preparation for a fierce and determined conflict to regain control of the world, to re-establish persecution, and to undo all that Protestantism has done. Catholicism is gaining ground upon every side. See the increasing number of her churches and chapels in Protestant countries. Look at the popularity of her colleges and seminaries in America, so widely patronized by Protestants. Look at the growth of ritualism in England, and the frequent defections to the ranks of the Catholics. Will American Cardinal Timothy Dolan become the first American pope? This is a question that found its way into observers’ minds of late, as the Archbishop of New York, along with 21 of his fellow Catholic leaders, was elevated to cardinal in Rome on Saturday.

As The Blaze mentioned over the weekend, some Italian and American media outlets have been wondering if Dolan has, due to his charismatic nature and appealing qualities, a chance at becoming the church’s top clergy member.

“Dolan is already being touted by some Vatican experts as a possible future candidate to become the first American pope,” reported MSNBC over the weekend. And and Sunday, ABC News produced a video report exploring this very same subject:

 

As we noted in our previous report, Americans are traditionally not considered papal contenders. After all, the U.S. dominates in so many other areas that internationally, the notion of a “Super Power Pope” is generally frowned upon.

But it seems Pope Benedict, among other leaders, has taken a special liking to Dolan. The Huffington Post provides some background about New York’s Catholic leader and his appeal:

Dolan, ordained as a parish priest in St. Louis in 1976, held several academic positions at Catholic universities before becoming the auxiliary bishop of St. Louis in 2001. A little over a year later, he was appointed the Archbishop of Milwaukee. In 2009, he became the archbishop of New York and was elected to lead the bishops’ conference in 2010. As head of New York’s church, he oversees Catholic life in Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island and many of the city’s suburbs.

 

 

Dolan’s elevation will give New York two living cardinals who can vote for a new pope, a rarity in the Catholic church. The other is Cardinal Edward Egan, the former archbishop of New York, who was elevated in February of 2001. Egan turns 80 in April. The move by the pope to promote Dolan while his predecessor remains of voting age is a break with tradition, which church observers say shows how much the pope favors New York’s Catholic leader.

Dolan, himself, is aware that there is some papal buzz over his potential future consideration (although ABC News calls it “a long shot”). When asked about the issue on Saturday, he said, “Io non parlo inglese,“ which translates to ”I don’t speak English.” Clearly, he’s not interested in commenting on the matter — but that hasn’t stopped people from chattering about it.

Considering that there’s no telling how long it will be until the next pope is sought out, taking such a humble stance is probably best. While the odds are stacked against Dolan, there’s no telling what the future could hold. Wow!! this is dangerous saints a American Pope for Rome. This is not good.
